Konyec

This is Hungarian movie that got a prize in Hungary. The story is like this. A husband and a wife live in an apartment. They are spending poor life because they can have their little pension. They cannot pay even the house rent. They are feeling anger against society that doesn't pay attention to old people. They decide to commit a robbery to get some money though they are already over 70. After they commit robberies some times, old people in Hungary stand and start demonstration. They moved society.

I won't tell you the climax of this movie. If you get interest, watch it by yourself. It's a heart-warming story, so everyone can like it.

We need to pay attention to old people and respect them because Japan has the huge number of old people. I learned it from this movie. Anyway, the movie itself is interesting, though.

Inception

This was soooooooooooooo great! I would say this is one of masterpieces in the world.

The story is so complexed that I can't describe it well even in Japanese. And I don't want you to know much about this movie before you actually see it. So I say only that the story is about those who can invade someone's dreams. What is difficult in this movie is the rule when characters invade a dream. Well, you have to check it out with your eyes and ears.

Ken Watanabe acts in this movie. Did you know he's from Niigata? He used to live in Sumon-mura (守門村), which is my cousin's hometown! I'm really proud of him as one of people who come from Niigata!

Resident Evil: Afterlife

You know Japanese famous video game called Biohazard. In other countries, it is called Resident Evil.

Milla Jovovich acted the main character, Alice. There are already 4 movies of Resident Evil. The first and the second ones are relatively good. But the third and this newest one are not good, to tell the truth. That is because characters in this movie (especially Alice) became too strong like characters in The Matrix. In the first and the second, they were ordinary people to some extent, but in the third and the forth, they came to dodge bullets.lol Alice was no longer a human being. The sequel will be made, I guess.

This movie was on the screen in the 3D version. Have you ever seen 3D movies? I haven't, actually. If I have time, I want to watch 3D movie in a theater, well, like Tron Legacy.

Sherlock Holmes

One of movies that I watched recently is Sherlock Holmes. Actually, I have to say this movie was terrible... I had expected much more mysterious story, but this was somethng like an action movie though the title of it was Sherlock Holmes! He is the one of the greatest detectives in the world with a gentle behavior, sharp mental and the famous strange-shaped pipe. I guess all of you have read famous novels about him written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and had image in the same way as I described. In this movie, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) was rude, nasty and too strong. Even his friend, Dr. Watson was really good at fighting! Anyway, this movie got some prizes and the sequel decided to be made. I'm going to watch it though I don't like the first one.

And what I knew for the first time was the full name of Sherlock Holmes. It was William Sherlock Scott Holmes. And that of Watson was John H. Watson. Well, you learned something new, right?

Been a while

I was too busy to publish any posts. Now I am really free, so I'm gonna write some posts about movies that I recently watched at a time.

Recently, I watched X-men Origins: Wolverine, the forth movie of X-men series.

Have you ever seen X-men movies or even comics by Marvel? I like X-men movies and I've seen all of them and comics. The setting is quite simple. It's a story of those who have super power. They are called mutants. Some have great ability of self-renewal, some can control metal as they want, some can read other people's minds, etc. There are a various kinds of super powers. Everytime I watch this movie, I can't help getting envious of mutants' abilities, hahaha. I want some super powers.lol

I strongly recommend this movie. You can really get excited. But, remember, you must see X-men first, then X-men 2, X-men: The Last Stand and finally X-men Origins: Wolverine. You should keep this order or you will get confused because you cannot fully understand the situation in the movie.

Also, if you have interest in X-men, you can read comics. The story of the comics by Marvel is really different from that of movies. You can have another excitation!

It's Christmas

Today, we're having Christmas. These days, I have a question to ask everyone. Is there Santa Claus for REAL? Not in your imagination. Did you know Santa Claus is known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas and Kris Kringle as well? He has an interesting history of himself. Check out his history on Wikipedia!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus

When I was a little, an elderly neighbor went around houses dressing up like Santa Claus and gave Christmas presents to kids. Of course, he visited our house and gave me and my brothers Christmas presents for each. Harking back, it was good days in my life because I really believed in Santa Claus at that time, hahaha. Now, actually I cannot believe in him but I HOPE there is for real.

Did he show up in front of you last night?

It's Christmas eve today. I bought a cake, chikens, everything needed for Christmas. Now, I'm going to make a pizza after I finish publishing this post. Let's see how it will be going!

When I bought a cake in 31 ice cream, I got a calender. I was glad to get it, because I didn't have any calenders before. Of course I put it on the wall. It's one with Snoopy on it.

And listen to it!

Hope ypu have a good Christmas!

Winter vacation

Hi, there.
We finished the whole classes in this year. And the winter vacation has just started! What are you going to do in this winter vacation? Some would say go back to hometown, some would say travel to somewhere. How about myself? Well, I have nothing to do in the vacation. Actually, I have to do part-time job. What a boring holiday...

If you are free, why don't you see me and drink? If I won't be able to have any plans, well, I will read a lot of books. Hehehehehe...

By the way, you must check this video. Benny Goodman Quartet! These four musicians are all geneus!

Book Report #2

BOOK REPORT

Hinton, Susan, The Outsiders, New York: Speak, 2008. 180. Print.

RESPONDING TO THE PLOT: (c) Was there a character especially inspiring, depressing or even frightening? Explain why.
The character especially both inspired and depressed me in some ways was Dallas (Dally) Winston. He is a member of the gang called the Greaser and he is well-known as the roughest of the Greasers. He is seemingly strong and rough, but we can read that he is actually timid and always pretending to be strong. He wants someone to be with him at every moment and gets nervous when he is alone. His personality is not mentioned in the novel, but I was able to find it while I was reading it.
I have to admit that his personality resembles mine to some extent. I sometimes pretend to be a good man in front of my parents, friends, teachers or other people around me. For example, I sometimes say that it is good though I don’t think so in my mind or I can say I’m not angry though I’m angry. In Japanese, we call these actions “Tatemae.” Almost all Japanese act “Tatemae” but in my case, I use it too frequently. That means I’ve suppressed my feeling many times. When I was reading this novel and following Dally’s statements and actions, I was able to realize that I was alike Dally in that way. I was depressed when I realized it because it is definitely a terrible personality. From now on, I will try to be honest and express what I feel or what I want to say. I want to thank Dally for having made me realizing my poor personality. In this point, I can say this novel was really educational for me. That’s why I can say that Dally was the character who especially inspired and depressed me.

ANALYZING 7 LITERARY TERMS:
Setting: In Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965.

Point of view: This story is told by the first person; from the main character, Ponyboy Curtis.

Conflict: Ponyboy, his best friend, Johnny Cade and Dally are members of the Greaser and in conflict with their minds and another gang called the Socs. They have to overcome terrible incidents. Also, the Greaser fights against the Socs for their prides.

Climax: The climax of this story is the rumble between the Greaser and the Socs. Many of them are injured while they are fighting. Finally, the Greaser wins.

Symbol: Tobacco is the symbol of this story. Ponyboy and Johnny are too young to smoke, but they smoke much. They want to show that they are already strong adults, which is one of typical actions that adolescent kids do.

Irony: The irony of this story is that Jonny dies because he got injured when he rescued kids from a burning church. He is honored as a hero who saved kids though he is a member of a gang. Eventually, he dies because of heroic wounds.

Theme: The theme of this story is how young people respond to things around them. The main characters are still adolescent people around 16 years old. They are too sensitive to things around them and cause troubles because they don’t know how to deal with their feelings.

REFLECTING TO THE STORY: (h) What is something you learned from the story?
One day, Ponyboy and Johnny rescued kids from a burning church, but a large piece of burning wood hit Johnny’s back and broke his back. A few days later, Johnny died in front of Ponyboy and Dally in the hospital. The unbearable sorrow over Jonny’s death was so big that Dally ran out of the hospital and soon after that, he robbed a grocery store. Police officers chased him and finally he pulled out an unloaded gun against them only as a bluff. Not knowing this, the police shot him down.
I was able to learn two things from this incident. The first thing is that a sorrow often leads another sorrow. In this novel, Jonny’s death caused Dally’s death. In this real life, many people have already understood the spiral of negative things. Sorrow can change people’s minds especially into bad ones. The bigger the sorrow is the more drastic the change will be. If the mind is changed into the bad way, we can act unexpected things that we can usually avoid. The second thing is that we can find the importance of something when we lose it. In the novel, Johnny was always saying that he wanted to suicide because of his terrible circumstance. After he was hit by a piece of burning wood and badly injured, he realized the importance of health and life. Another example is shown in the novel: Dally realized how he like Johnny just after Johnny died. Before the incident, he couldn’t find the importance of Johnny. Thinking back, I can pick up some “too-late-realizing” about myself though I’m still 19. However, both these two things which I learned from this story can be avoided if we are careful enough. I want to keep my heart strong and deal with sad incidents well.

Makingover

I madeover my room and extended space to move around. Before arrangement, I hardly sit freely on the floor because of the narrow space, but now I can lie face-up there. Also, I bought a carpet. My room has totally changed! Of course in a good way (though I've got trouble about watching TV from the table).

Now I could secure enough space that 4 to 5 people sit, so I can invite some people at the a moment. Why don't you have Nabe-party?lol Anyway, as you know, IE party was postponed AGAIN. And I heard some of you want me to plan it again during Hoko period (a period for making up classes). Ok, then I will think about that again in the winter vacation.

Instead of having IE party, I'm going to drink with friends at Yusuke's house. I'm looking forward to it.

Kuzumi all stars lol

Yesterday, I met and drank with my father, his 2 younger brother and his elder sister at Kichijoji. Kichijoji is one of my favorite places because I can find a lot of interesting place there. We went to Nihon-kai Shoya, which is a famous japanese style bar, and enjoyed talking, drinking, whatever. Also, it was my uncle's (the youngest of my father's brothers) birthday. I was able to listen to their talk about their past. Their stories always funny, so I was laughing all the time.

I went to there just after the fifth period class was over, so I had to bring my bags to carry my text books. The bag was Aoyama Gakuin University's orginal bag, you know, that.... a platic, soft, thin one with the name of AGU on. When we go out of Shoya, one of staffs talked to me and told me that he was also a student of AGU. What a chance.

By the way, I am planning to makeover my room to extend space where I can move around. What do you think of it?

Too many things to be done

This weekend, I have to do a lot of things. I mean, assignment. The book report for IE Core and the essay (final draft) for IE Writing.

And because I've decided to take the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), I have to study Chinese harder than before. I borrowed some books to study Chinese last Tuesday. The end of this year's classes will come soon (some of classes already ended). One of two Chinese class has been ended, so I'm going to review the text book used in that class. Did you get used to using the language that you're studying as so-called "Ni-gai"? And is it interesting for you to study it? In the next semester, we will be able to choose whether you will take the second language class. Of course, I'll take it! How about you?  I can understand some students say the second language class is too hard and boring. The response is different from person to person. Anyway, Chinese is interesting for me, so I'm looking forward to taking the next year's Chinese class.

While I was working on this post, I was listening to this. You must check it. This band is so famous that many of you have ever listened to their songs.

Why don't you have IE class party "IE-kai"?

I will have to see the old year out in Tokyo because I have to work for a part-time job. My job will be finished at 7 or 8 p.m., so I'll be free at night. Then I would say if you guys will not be too busy in the winter vacation, or on the last class day of this year (Tue), how about having IE-kai?? As usual some of you, many of you, all of you would tell me to be a steward and make the plan for the party, but it's ok. If you say so, I will.

But the problem is our schedule. The point is we have to schadule time for it. If you really want to have it, please help me in order to smoothly make schedule for it!

Anyway, please tell me whether if you want to have it, when and where you want to have it as earlier as you can. Isn't it a nice plan?

Speech Communication Tue. #5 Script

Resolved: That the Drinking Age in Japan Should be 18.
I’m on the affirmative side on this proposition. First, I want you to respond to a survey: who drinks alcoholic drink in this class? Some drink and other don’t. These days, mostly, young people start drinking when they graduate from high school and we’ve already been university students, so most of us have drunk at least once before. I want you to respond to another survey: do you think drinking can help people have fun? This survey clearly shows that drinking is a way to have fun. That’s why we usually drink in parties whichever it is formal or informal called Nomi-kai in Japanese. Now, we’ve got strong evidence that supports my position. We can say that it is strong because you people made this evidence by yourself. Furthermore, I can show you three more points why I support this position: tax, other countries’ drinking age and learn how to drink or stop drinking.
The first point is tax. It is well-known that most of the Japanese government’s source of revenue is taxes people have to pay. Now, the national finance is not healthy and the government is trying to rebuild the national economy. Do you know how much the total budget deficit of Japanese government? It came to 1,382,840 billion yen. If the drinking age is set 18, then more and more people can buy alcoholic drinks and the government will be able to secure a big source of finance. According to the web site of the National Tax Administration Agency, in Japan, alcoholic drinks are classified into four types and each has different amount of tax per a kilogram. These days, the revenue of a liquor tax is decreasing. That means less and less people feel interest in alcoholic beverage and the government can have less chances to secure the source of finance. This situation can lead to a worse situation, so setting the drinking age in Japan 18 is one of the solutions that can be carried out quickly.
The drinking age in Japan is 20 now. Of course, there are some reasons to set it 20. I’ll pick some of them. Firstly, drinking can disturb growth of a brain. It is said that a brain keeps growing until the person turn to 20 and alcohol is harmful to a brains. Secondly, minors’ bodies cannot dispose of alcohol as fast as adults, so minors’ internal organs can be badly damaged.  Thirdly, if people start to drink when they are still young, there would be a strong possibility that they get alcohol dependency. Finally, minors cannot manage their properties all by themselves. Alcoholic beverage costs a lot of money, so the government can’t allow them to buy it freely. However, how about other countries? Let me give you some examples: the drinking age in Korea is 19, that in Taiwan 18, in Canada 19, in Brazil 18, in Italy 16, in Great Britain 16, in Spain 16, in Germany 16, in France 16. The most surprising country about the legal drinking age is our neighborhood, China. It has no drinking age. Therefore, everybody can drink even if he or she is still ten years old or much younger. You can understand the importance of setting the drinking age 20. However, now you can understand that the Japanese government is a little stricter than other countries’. Though many of developed countries are concerned about problems that minors’ drinking can cause, they are setting the drinking age under 20.
If the drinking age is lowered into 18, people will be able to get used to alcoholic drink earlier. If so, people can have both good and bad experiences about alcohol and then they can learn how to drink safely. That is, you will come to save your friends and yourself when you’re drinking: you can make your friends stop drinking too much, and you can stop yourself. By knowing our own margins, we can prevent troubles about alcohol from happening. What’s more, a former correspondent and editor of Time magazine, A. Barrett Seaman advocates that the drinking age should be lowered to empower young adult ages 18-20 to make mature decisions about alcohol in their lives. This also strongly supports my position.
In conclusion, originally, alcoholic beverage lets us feel good and have fun as many of you have already known, but it can causes troubles and they can be terrible ones such as vomiting, alcohol dependency or even death. The point is that we can avoid them if we have right knowledge. As I mentioned in this speech, the idea that the drinking age should be 18 prevents problems in some ways and can even give us better results. For the first step to get a good result, please consider that I showed you about alcohol. This will help you break a bed stereotypes and have a right idea of alcohol. Both those who can drink and who cannot, please vote for the affirmative side.

Overslept, Skipping classes

Hi, guys. Yesterday, I terriblly overslept and got up at almost 11. Of course, I couldn't come to school and attend a.m. classes (the damn phonetics and the damn "kiri-gai"). What's worse, I fell back to sleep and got up at almost 3 p.m., hahaha. Then I missed IE Writing class in 4th period. And and and, I slept back again amd got up at 4:30 p.m., hahahahahaha. As you can imagine, I couldn't attend 5th period class. Therefore, I missed whole today's class! It was the first time that I missed the whole classes because of my terrible laziness. I will never do that again, never. It would break myself.

I accidentally had more time than usual because of too much sleep, so I was able to finish a novel, The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami. I want to introduce this masterpiece to you but one of my friends hasn't finished it yet and I don't want him to know the story before he read it himself, so I don't talk about it for now. Anyway, I would say it was marvelous. People must read it at least once.

Spent too much

After English plays by students in Mrs. Okawa's zemi class, I ate dinner at France-tei (a steak house) and drank at an izaka-ya (a Japanese style bar). I was starving because I'd had nothing then, so I ate exteremely much amount. Also, I drank much though I didn't get terriblly drunk. Anyway, I had a big fun! When I pay money for what I had, I was really surprised. It costed about 5,000 yen... That means I spent over 7,000 yen only in that day for eating or drinking!

As I said before, I'm planning to go to America, so I have to save money to secure some money for the travel. But, but, but..... I spent too much! I will have to have more shifts of my part-time job in the wintrevacation to earn much more than now...

Bye.

English plays by students of Mrs. Okawa's "zemi"

On the last Saturday, I went to Aoyama campus to watch English plays by students. I thought it wouldn't be impressive and moving, but the contents, acting, the set (screen and properties), etc. evrything was original, and had strong masseges. I felt how how hard the students had practiced by watching their performances.

What was interesting to me was one of the performances whose theme was the danger of alcohol. In Speech Communication class (Mrs. Okawa's class), I'm working on the drinking age problem and proposing that the drinking age should be 18 in Japan. Therefore, my idea was against the theme of the performance in some ways. However,of course, I know how dangerous alcohol can be and it was lucky for me to be able to listen to opinions on the other side. This would be big references for me!

After the performance was over, I saw a Christmas tree in Aoyama campus for the first time. Compared with Fuchinobe's one, it was really big and beautiful (though we can say that of Fuchinobe is too terrible).

See you.

Meeting my father's brothers and sister

I'm planning to meet my father and his brothers and sister at Kichijoji on Dec. 17, Friday. I'm looking forward it sooooo much because I will be able to my family after a long time and drink or have something for free.lol Don't you think it soungs great that we, Niigata-jin (people from Niigata) can meet each other in Tokyo!

Every time we get together, we talk about many different things including music. My father used to play the guitar, his two brothers used to play the drums and his sister used to be a semi-professional singer! And as you know, I play the drums. So we can talk about music deeply and have a fun.

When they come to get drunken, they start to talk about something interesting (or I can say awful) that I can't introduce on this blog (because, you know, sometimes includes blue talk or dirty one)! But it is always sooooo funny and enjoyable, hahaha!

Anyway, this time again, I'll have a great time with them.
See you.

Plan to go packpacking

Hi. It is getting cold and we are reaching the end of the year. These days, I'm really interested in backpacking. You know, what is important is to try, so I am planning to go packpacking in America during the next spring vacation. Doesn't it sound great?

Some problems can be expected, though. The biggest problem is money. I'll need some money for food, transportation (air plane for America and that for Japan), accommodation fee and extra in case of emergency. That must be huge amount and I don't know whether I can afford all of them (I don't want to ask for my parents' help). Though I've set aside some money, it's not good that I use much of it.

Another problem is about time. I want to consider this interesting trip and plan it well, but time is limited because I want to start it eralier. There would be littele time to consider. Fortunately, university students can secure a long spring vacation, I can easily shorten or legthen the trip unless I use all money I have.

I realy want to go, and need some information. About backpacking and America. If you have some, please give me some advice.

Interesting buildings

Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao, Spain)Today, in IE Core class, we learned an interesting museum called Guggenheim Museum. I fonud a photo from a different angle.
It has beautiful curved line and ship-like shape. In this photo, it is beautifully illuminated by sickly light. Because it is reflected on the water with lights, it really looks like a gorgeous ship!

I found other interesting photos of buildings. There are many photos on a web site.
Check this out. You an find interesting and funny photos of buildings in the world.

Habitat 67 (Montreal, Canada)The most interesting one to me is a large exposition in Canada. Since it is a exposition, people can live in this building! It looks like a pile of cubes. In its material sense, the cube is a symbol of stability. As for its mystic meaning, the cube is a symbol of wisdom, truth, moral perfection, at the origin itself of our civilization.

Did you like it? Someday, I want to live in this cube!
Bye.

Discussion Sheet #2

Source of the Article:
“Agency to ban home DVD copying”. Asahi.com. 6 December 2010

Who? – A government agency
What? – is planning to ban home DVD copying
When? – As early as the next year
Where? – The Diet
Why? – There are too many piracies
How? – The Diet will revise the existing Copyright Law

Vocabulary:
Legislation – a law or set of laws
Stipulate – if an agreement, law, or rule stipulates sth, it must be done
Duplication – an exact copy of sth that you can use in the same way
Routinely – if sth is routinely done, it is done as a normal part of a process or job
Piracy – the crime of illegally copying and selling books, tapes, videos, computer programs etc

Summary:
A government agency is planning to ban home DVD and Blu-ray copying. Also, the productions and programs to decrypt commercially produced discs would be prohibited. The agency is aiming at reducing the number of piracies that are routinely circulated on the Internet these days. However, the revised Copyright Law will not stipulate penalties for acting of illegally copying itself. A bill to revise the law will likely be submitted in next year’s regular Diet session.

Opinion:
This plan to revise the existing Copyright Law must be done. These days, a lot of piracies are available on the Internet and we can easily watch or download it. Making a piracy itself is illegal act. Therefore, we can be a criminal by getting it on the Internet even if we do not know that it is an illegal production. It is easy to expect that this trouble can be happen. Some would say they are sorry that they would lose sources to get and watch movies, but revising the law would be an effective solution for the problem.

Finally got it!

I finally bought a digitak camera! I've chosen that of SONY whose color is gold. Also, I bought a multi card reader (a device that we can install photos from a digital camera or a cell phone), a SD card and a pouch to put it in.

Today, I got up 15:30. Maybe that's because I was too tired last night. Since I had a lot of things to do these days, I had to stay up late and work on them. Now, I feel good.

See you.

IE Writing #2 Classification 2nd Draft

Types of Religions
There are a variety of religions in the world. Generally speaking, Japanese pay little attention to religions. However, most of the people in the world have their religions and try to be religious. Three religions would be picked up as the most famous religions in the world. They are so popular that almost all people around the world know and each has unique features which are attracting believers. Therefore, it can be said that religions can be classified on the basis of their faith: Christianity, Islam and Buddhism.
The first type of religions is Christianity. People who have faith in Christianity are called Christians. They believe in Jesus Christ, who is said to really exist in this world many years ago. People can learn a lot about this religion from the Bible (because Christianity is mainly based on it), which shows what Jesus Christ did or preached. A lot of missionaries have devoted their lives to propagate Christ’s teachings. Therefore, there are thousands of churches all over the world and Christians can pray or confess there. Also, they have contributed to found missionary schools such as Aoyama Gakuin University, which was established by missionaries of A Methosist Church (The Wesley Center Online, 2007). In addition, there are the two most popular denominations in the Christian world: Catholic and Protestant. A Methosist Church belongs to Protestant, so it can be said that Aoyama Gakuin University is a Protestant university. Christians have some different styles to worship though their styles are different in different denominations: prayer, confession, singing hymns or going to church to listen to preachers. The unique features of Christianity can be seen in church. One of them is that they cross themselves with their hand at the end of a prayer saying “Amen.” However, this is Catholics’ style and Protestants mostly don’t cross themselves when they pray. Another one is confession where Christians go to a church and confess their sins. This is also different in different denominations. Some confess them to a priest and some do directly to God. Christianity is believed in mainly by people from Western nations which are playing important roles in the world. What is more, Aoyama Gakuin University’s educational philosophy is based on Christ’s teachings and lessons. That means students who belong to it should deeply understand the features of Christianity.
The second type is Islam. Those who believe in Allah, the one and only God of Islam, are called Muslims. “Muslims also believe that Islam is completed and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed at many times and places before, including through the prophets Abraham, Moses and Jesus” (Wikipedia, 2010). They consider the Koran to be both unaltered and the final revelation from the God and they read it to a particular rhythm only in Arabic. They have to have faith in six important things: Allah, angels, revelations, prophets, afterlife and predestination. Also, they have five duties given by God: Shahadah (the basic creed of Islam that must be recited), Salah (daily prayers), Sawm (fasting), Zakat (alms-giving) and Haji (pilgrimage to Mecca). The most remarkable custom of Muslims is Zakat. At particular times, they kneel down to Mecca, which is the sacred place for them, in a particular way reciting that there is no worship except Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of God. This characteristic duty would be seen anywhere in Islamic countries. These days, people in the world, especially those who are from Western countries, have a bad stereotype of Islam that Muslims are so dangerous that they easily kill foreigners and themselves for their God. Those who have a negative stereotype of Islam should learn it further and step closer to Muslims for a good relationship.
The last one is Buddhism, which is believed mainly in Asia. There are a variety of denominations. Each has a different Okyo, a kind of revelation, and manners for prayer. Regardless of differences of denominations, those who believe in Buddhism are called Buddhists. They have faith in Buddha’s teachings and statements written in revelations, but strictly speaking, Buddha is not God. Buddha means those who can be spiritually awakened. “Gautama Siddhartha finally achieved enlightenment and became the Buddha. The Mahabodhi Temple at the site of Buddha’s enlightenment, is now a pilgrimage site” (BBC, 2002) and he is the only person who achieved it, so generally he is called Buddha. The important and unique point of Buddhism is Buddhists have no concept of having God though there are a lot of Hotoke (a kind of God, but not exactly God). What’s more, actually, Buddha would have said that Buddhism was not meant to be a religion, but a way or a lesson to be Buddha which is called Chudo. Therefore, Buddhists go to temples, sit in Japanese fashion called Seiza and fold hands not to worship, but to attain enlightenment. Even some of Buddhists themselves are misunderstand the concept of their own religion.
There are various kinds of religions that attract faithful people in the world. They have their own features which are far different from others. People should learn deeply about the religions that they want to believe in. Also, they must understand other religions to respect each other’s religion and try to get closer in order to have a better world than now. Therefore, it is the best way to classify religions on the basis of their faith for finding a religion that suits each person and life in a peaceful world without religious stereotypes.

Went to Machida

Yesterday, I went to Machida for shopping (not for MY shopping). I visited some dressing shop to find a good bolero and a purse. Fortunately, the shopping was finished earlier than I expected, that made me be relieved because I was deadly starving.

After that, we ate ra-men in Tisho-ken. As I mentioned, I was starving, so I had a huuuuuuuge amount of Tsuke-men. It was great. Then we (I was with a girl) went to Book Off to buy a game for me.lol I bought Final Fantasy 3, not new Monster Hunter!

I wanted to post a picture of Machida on this blog. But I couldn't because I have no digital camera (I talked about this before). Again, I thought I need one!!

Hachioji Southern Sky Tower

A new tall building was opened yesterday. It's called Hachioji Southern Sky Tower. It has a lot of interesting, convenient shops and restaurants. Starbucks Coffee, Alpus (super market), Seria (100 yen shop), MAHANA (Hawaiian restaurant), Gran Deseo (Spanish restaurant), Kumazawa Shoten (book store) and more! It's extremely higher than other building around here. I think it's even the tallest.

What's better, some good shops including Mr. Doughnut and Bic Camera were opened around this building. The tower and these shops are communicated with Hachioji station, so we can easily get there and do some shopping! And it is located on my way home, I can stop at some shops.

Come to there if you get interest in the tower or shops. It's easy access!

Linda Ohama

Today we attended a lecture of Linda Ohama, a famous movie director. We watched some parts of her movie called Obachan no Garden. In this movie, we could learn how hard time her grandmother had. Also, the movie has shown the comlpex situation that she and her family had.

One of the most interesting point to me was that her grandmother and mother never tried to teach Japanese because they thought being Japanese was dagerous. Recently, I watched a TV drama about Japanese-American people during the World War 2. The difference between Ohama family and the family in the TV drama was the attitude toward the fact that they are Japanese (to some extent). Ohama family didn't like to be Japanese because of Canadians' discrimination. In contrast, The family in the TV program had pride of being Japanese despite Americans' discrimination.

It was good experience to listen to her story.

Digital camera

Hello.
These days, people like to tale pictures whenever they find something interesting. Now we can post pictures on our website such as this blog page.

I've never had my own digital camera, so I can't post pictures in high quality (though I can use my cellphone to take a picture but I can take only grainy photos). Recently, Bic Camera was opened at Hachioji station. When I went there for the first time, I found that I can buy a digital camere at a cost of about 10,000 yen. I really want it! But I've spent too much money on November. I have to wait until December comes.

Speech Communication

I have Speech Communication class in 5th period on Tuesday. In the class, I have make a script and power point slides for my speech. Most of the students in my class are in the 2nd grade. There are only 5 or 6 students in the 1st grade in my class. 20(?) of 6, only.

Since they are making graet speaches, I have to prepare well for my turn. Maybe my turn will be in the next class. The problem is that I can't use a computer well, so I have trouble when I want to make power point slides.

This problem is connected to IT Kosyu-kai. If do it well, I can make better slides though there is not much time left (almost no time, hahaha).

Need time to relax

I have classes on Monday,Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 4 days a week. However, I have no holiday because I have a part-time job on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the week. Since I have to go to work 3 days a week, now I feel my work place is second school. The work is hard, but I'm enjoying it. Only less than 2 months have passed since I started this job, but because my senior staff are so kind that they tell me how to do the work with care.

Anyway, I need some time to rest. But now, I have to make my script for a debate in Speech Communication class on Tuesday... It will take me a long time, I guess...

Too small cafeteria

I guess most of the students in Aoyama Gakuin university say that they usually get in trouble when they want to eat lunch at cafeteria because they cannot find vacant seats. Some use seats that are reserved by circles called Sa-seki. They can avoid taking a long time to find them.

Anyway, what we can say is the cafeteria is too small. I want to appeal that the university should make another cafeteria, or they should make it larger. That's too much trouble for us.

Since this is a private school that has large extra money, the school has to use it usefully. Rather than hiring unnecessary guard officers. The number of them even increased! They would say we are guiding students to school safely, but we are no longer kids!

The important money, where has it gone?

Ameba

I started another blog though I'm not sure that I will keep it. Anyway, Japanese blog web sites are quite interesting. We can make our own characters ourselves and chat with poeple through those characters. One of the most popular web site is Ameblo. Now it is a huge site that a lot of people are using and enjoying. On the blog, of course we can make our characters called Pigg and also have our own rooms which we can get a makeover.

I made my Pigg a little while ago. The character looks just alike myself! I really want you to check out my Pigg.lol It's such a funny.

If you have interest in Ameblo, why don't you start it?

Can't sleep

Good evening or rather morning. First, I can say that I don't like to stay up late. I want to go to bed at 12 o'clock or a little later, but these days, I go to bed at 3 a.m. or later. To make myself feel sleepy, I usually drink scotch (I have to say I drink it because I love it). Mostly, I drink Cutty Sark but today I bought Johnnie Walker Red Label. And I'm drinking it now. This is good though I would say Cutty Sark is better. Anyway, I don't feel sleepy now. It's already 4 a.m.

However, once I start to sleep, another trouble would happen. I can't wake up! I don't usually feel hard to wake up in the morning, but these days, somehow, I tend to fall back to sleep... The cause is clear. It's the time to sleep. I cannot sleep at night, and I cannot wake up in the morning because of my sleeping time. Negatine chain...

What I can do is turn to my heroic whisky... I can see my hopeless future...

Interesting story: a dream

I was sleeping for a while. Maybe about 30 minutes. And I had a dream while I was sleeping. Let me talk about that dream.

I was in Niigata, around my home. In reality, I can see a lot of cats around my home and some of them are my friends ( though I am not sure they are thinking I am their friend, but they always come to me when they find me). I was walking in the street. It was near from a Japanese bar that my friend's father is running. A big cat faced me. A big cat, as big as a car. He said, "Why are you here? You shouldn't be here. This is our place. You must find your place. You must find what you have to do now." "Our? Who are they? You mean cats?" I asked. "We are cats, and you are one, but you are not a cat. We are cats including you, but you are a humanbeing. You musn't be here," the cat said. "I am a cat, but also a humanbeing, right?" I asked. "That's right, a poor little cat," the cat laughed. "I can't understand what you mean. If I am one of you, I mean..., a cat, I wanna join you. Let me be here!" I said.

Somebody called my name behind my back, but it might not be my name. I am not sure it was my name. I turned around and saw who it was. It was myself. He (I) talked me, "You musn't be our side. Stay there and never turn to us. It's too dangerous." "Dangerous? What is dangerous? I guess you're a part of me, so I should accept me," I said to him (me). "No, you are a part of me. Obey and respect me. That's my order to you. Obey and respect me. Stay there with your cat-like friends!" he (I) shouted. I turned around to speak to the big cat, but it wasn't there. I could see only a tail. A tail of a cat. "See, they left a hint for you to get there," somebody said to me from somewhere. " There? Where is that? Where should I go?" I shouted and turned around. No one was there. Somebody was laughing at me. "Where are you? Who is it?" I shouted. "You are still here, a poor little cat," the big cat appeared and said, "I said you nusn't be here. You are a part of me, so you must obey and respect me!" it ordered me. "Are you myself? You looks like a cat! Just a cat!" I shouted. "I'm yourself. Everything you see is yourself. You are right, a poor little boy," I said to me. Suddenly, I got blind.

I tried to see something. I tried to open my eyes. But I couldn't. At that moment, somebody patted my shoulder. I turned around, but no one was there (I wasn't blind, suddenly, i don't know why). Just nothing was there. No human, no cat, no street, no house, no car, no nature, no building, no color (not white, I couldn't find what color the world had), no sun, no wind, no feeling. I was no where. I was just no where.

Suddenly, a voice was there, "It's all your fault. All your fault, a poor thing." I wanted to say something, but I couldn't speak it up, even I didn't know what I wanted to say. "What do you want to do? Who are you? I am yourself, but you don't know who are you. You have to understand who you should be. Think about people around you. Who are they? They are yourself? Never. They are theirselves. So who are you? Who Are You?" it asked. "I don't know who I am. I don't know what I should do. Who am I? Who are you? And what is MYSELF?" I cried. "That's correct. It's YOURSELF. And it's MYSELF. You are me, and I am you. Who are we? We never know. We just never know...," a voice said and disappeared. I also disappeared, willingly, slowly. Then I was nowhere. I was nothing.

I can't understand what that meant now, but I could felt that I was nowhere and I was nothing. Anyway, that was the dream I had.

The night before holidays

Mostly, I stay up late at night before holidays. What I need are beer, something to eat, a book and light. Then the night will be a great private space that no one can invade. I wuold do what I want to do, not things that I am forced to do, feel better than I feel in the daytime, get sleepy, out of control and  then sleep will come swallowing me and itself. That's the night. That's the night just before holidays that I expect (though I usually miss that kind of night because of some invaders that I hate....).

This is a piece of a person of leisure's mind. No one cares. It's a first-person world that everyone has for each. No one cares.

Well, I need some more beer. Or whisky. Ah, There is. Cutty Sark, my favorite scotch for now or forever. I'll enjoy my night with a good navel and attractive scotch. In first-person world.

Remember, this is a piece of a stupid man's mind. No attention is needed.
Bye-bye...
And have a nice holiday.

Luck, and thank Maru

Have you finished that damn IT assignment? Well, I've not. I want to finish it at once and all of you (some of you have already finished, I heard) want to do so, but I can't because of lack of ability to use computers! Why did this university set this assignment even which is requiredt to be done for greduation? However, actually, in reality, it is needed for people to use computers especially in the offices of aimost all countries. To get a job, we must be good at it to some extent.

Today, luckily, the great device came to me. Some piece of papers, actually. They are really helpful because they are just the instruction for IT Koshu-kai! With this, I will be able to finish it earlier than I expected. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you, Maru!hahaha.

See you next class.

IE Writing Essay #2 Classification 1st Draft

Types of Religions
There are a variety of religions in the world. Generally speaking, Japanese pay less attention to religions.
People can learn a lot about this religion from the Bible because Christianity is mainly based on it, which shows what Jesus Christ did or preached. A lot of missionaries devoted their lives to propagate Christ’s teachings. Therefore, there are thousands of churches all over the world and Christians can pray or confess there. Also, they contributed to found missionary schools such as Aoyama Gakuin University, which was established by the missionaries of Methosist Church (The Wesley Center Online, 2007). Christians have some different styles to worship: prayer, confession, singing hymns or going to church to listen to preachers. The unique features of Christianity can be seen in church. One of them is that they cross themselves with their hand in the end of prayer saying “Amen.” Another one is confession that Christians go to church and confess their sins to a priest.
They consider the Koran to be both unaltered and the final revelation from the God and they read it to the particular rhythm only in Arabic.
The last one is Buddhism, which is believed in mainly around Asia. There are a variety of denominations. Each has different Okyo, a kind of revelation, and manners for prayer. Regardless of differences of denominations, those who believe in Buddhism are called Buddhists. They have faith in Buddha’s teachings and statements written on revelations, but strictly speaking, Buddha is not God. Buddha means those who could be spiritually awakened. Therefore, Buddhists go to temples, sit in Japanese fashion called Seiza and fold hands not to worship, but to attain enlightenment. Even some of Buddhists themselves are misunderstanding the concept of their own religion.
